FADE IN INT. JJ'S ROOM - NIGHT DISCLAIMER: This post extensively discusses Christian teachings, practices and issues. Some points may also apply to other religions. If you are not Christian, you are still welcome to read the post to gain insights or understand Christianity better. However, if you do not feel comfortable reading Christian stuff, do feel free to skip the post. I have made reasonable efforts to ensure the post does not contain inappropriate comments about other religions, but if any material is inadvertently offensive (or factually inaccurate), please inform me politely. Copied from my tweets about the exam papers: Once I got my Literature paper, my mind went blank. My Disgrace essay was a disgrace; the Amsterdam one was even worse. JC-2 SA2 is over but I'm in no mood to rejoice. Afraid I'll fail my favourite subject! Plus I have a TPJClink article to write tonight. One TPJClink article, two Economics articles for ALPHA, a magazine design for ALPHA and three Project Speeches. All must be completed soon, so I can submit my School Graduation Certificate achievements. In addition, I must spend the next 11 days intensively exercising, doing IQ tests and studying XHTML/CSS/JavaScript. Why? To prepare for 13 July, where I will face a massive challenge that may literally be a matter of life and death. I would love to take a break from studying for A-Levels, but obviously cannot. With a very busy and difficult July ahead, I need wisdom and guidance from God. Thus I picked a verse from Proverbs, one of my favourite Bible chapters. Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold (Proverbs 8:10) In the New International version translation of Proverbs, "knowledge" is synonymous with "wisdom". Thus the verse means that the wisdom of the Lord with worth more than gold. We live in a highly materialistic society, but should not adopt its materialistic ways. Money and possessions are indeed important. Proverbs 30:9 notes that with no food or money, one would steal food to survive and thus violate one of the Ten Commandments. However, all the money and possessions in the world cannot buy us happiness, for life is about far more than these. For me, happiness is enjoying and excelling in what I do, being close to my friends and living in accordance with my values, even if I am not rich. To God, the keys are love and wisdom, both of which I seek. FADE OUT |
