Seeking suitable study environments

FADE IN
INT. WHEREVER JJ STUDIES - AT NIGHT

Last night, I stayed up until 4am to work on a Literature project. That felt good. JJ remembers, and misses, the late nights spent writing essays. JJ remembers how home was once a great place to complete assignments and study my socks off, After a good shower, I would play instrumental music and spend hours immersed in my essay writing (or whatever homework I have), with milk and snacks on my table to keep me going. Hoping that my father does not come home (last night, he did not).

For he continues to insist that - at least, when he is at home or comes home - I sleep by midnight on all days (and does not hesitate to punish me when he catches me awake well past midnight). Ridiculous, unreasonable and...feel free to come up with more adjectives. With my mermaid gone, I also have to spend more time on housework, leaving less time for homework. Did I forget to mention that I now have to eat outside, every day?

My preliminary examinations start in 6 weeks and the actual A-Levels commence 15 weeks from now. I need to study hard, but how? Reading, studying and working on my work during lessons is not optimal as teachers would want me to concentrate on the lessons. The long hours exhaust me.

Next week, the hours will get longer, with the start of Night Study. Should I dread this? No. I see Night Study as an opportunity. In the school library, away from my parents and troubles, I may be able to study properly and get stuff done. But how do I make the school library a viable environment for me to study?

So do not be surprised if you see me bringing a towel, soap, an iPod and snacks to school. JJ just wants to study. In the school library, which, unlike my home, is air-conditioned (cool, man). Until 8.30pm every weekday (except Fridays, as I now meet M1 on Friday evenings). How about weekends, though? How about days where I buy an MC? Besides the school library and home, JJ needs more good places to study. Tampines Block 812 is undergoing renovations, so that leaves CDAC and Tampines Regional Library, but JJ will keep searching. JJ will also keep studying and striving for excellent grades.
